Major Events and Achievements

January, 2003

THIS is legally established. It is registered with the District Administration Office, Kathmandu (Registration No. 459/059/060 B.S.) under the Association Registration Act 2034 B.S., affiliated with the Social Welfare Council (Affiliation No. 14304) under the Social Welfare Council Act 2049 B.S.

Following its official establishment, co-founders DB and Babita actively pursued funding opportunities. They reached out to their international network through emails and letters and conducted extensive outreach to individuals recommended by their contacts. After eight months of dedicated efforts, they successfully secured the first ever grant for THIS from UNESCO Kathmandu for the Community Learning Centre (CLC) Project.

Present (2025)

Today, THIS continues to inspire and empower. With a focus on care reform, system strengthening, and systemic change in Nepal, we strive to build a sustainable and equitable future for the young people with lived experiences of the care system of Nepal in a healthy and joint partnership of our resource partners:

2024 to date: Local Government for Children in partnership with Childaid Network in 5 local municipalities in Ramechhap district, Bagmati Province

2022 to date: Developing a Model of Community-owned Foster Care in Nepal in joint partnership with Martin James Foundation, Hope and Homes for Children and Forget Me Not Australia in 2 local municipalities in Chitwan district, Bagmati Province

2019 to date: From Orphanages to Family Based Care: Child Protection and Care Reform in Nepal in joint partnership with Hope and Homes for Children and Forget Me Not Australia in Bagmati Province and Karnali Province

2012 to date: Building Strong Families and Sustainable Futures in partnership with Forget Me Not Australia

2006 to date: Family for Reconnection, Reintegration and Repatriation and Children at Risk in partnership with Adara Development
